Informed Consent & Full Disclosure
The purpose of this document is to clearly outline my, Hannah Schiller's, educational background and scope of practice as a clinical herbalist and to ensure that all clients are fully informed with a clear understanding of what to expect from an herbal consultation with me. If you have booked an initial consultation, please read this page in its entirety and then fill out + sign the form at the bottom!
I, Hannah Schiller, am an herbalist. I am not a doctor or a nurse, nor am I a replacement for a primary care physician of any kind. Though I have many years of herbal education and clinical experience, the state of New York does not license herbalists, therefore I am an unlicensed practitioner. I do not diagnose, treat, prescribe or claim to cure any medical conditions or pathologies nor will I ever represent myself as doing so. For any condition, you are advised to seek care from an appropriate medical practitioner. Whether you choose to do this or not is your decision and Hannah Schiller assumes no responsibility for your choice.
Here are some things herbalists as unlicensed practitioners do not do:
diagnose, treat, or prescribe medication
perform any form of surgery or any procedure that punctures your skin or harmfully invades your body.
use X-ray radiation
prescribe or distribute prescription drugs or recommend that you discontinue drugs that were prescribed by a licensed physician
set fractures
treat wounds with electrotherapy
put you at risk of great bodily harm, serious physical or mental illness, or death.
imply in any way that they are licensed physicians.
As an herbalist, this is what I will do:
listen, hold space for, and honour your health journey and perspective on your body and experiences
recommend herbs based on my clinical experience and education of safe and accessible plant medicines and their benefits
make other holistic suggestions in the areas of nutrition, lifestyle, and nutritional supplementation

What to Expect
Initial consultations last about 60-90 minutes. In this first visit, I’ll give you space to share your health journey and why you wanted to meet with an herbalist. I will ask many questions about different body systems, symptoms, things you’ve tried, diet and lifestyle. We will discuss current health concerns, past medical history, family health, diet and exercise habits, emotional well-being and state of mind. I will review any blood work you might have or medical diagnoses and work with you to to determine how best to approach your primary health concerns and how you’d like to integrate herbs into your journey. After we meet, I’ll formulate a custom tincture formula for you from my apothecary, which can be shipped if you are further afield, and you’ll receive a write-up of my notes, my suggestions, and an outline of your plan moving forward. Follow ups are typically suggested about 6 weeks from the initial consultation and re-fills are available at any time at $10/oz.
Please note, it can take up to a week for me to formulate and get your tincture and write-up to you.
