A WILD & COMMON PLACE: an intuitive, slow seasonal apothecary-land share
A Wild & Common Place is an experiential apothecary-land share that unfolds with the seasons over the course of the year. With each season, you receive a box: a blend of seasonally-specific herbal remedies, preserved wild foods, writing, educational handouts and artwork. These products and their accompanying treasures are hand-crafted in real time from sustainably foraged and grown plants on the land where Foliage Botanics sits, small expressions of the story of this place. They are intended to help you build your apothecary and your herbal allies, broaden your experience of plants and their medicine potential, promote seasonal well-being, and strengthen your connection to place.
As the year progresses, the boxes and their contents weave a story of a piece of land and the life on it—a place where lambs are born and lost, where beavers dam the creek at the bend where wild rose and angelica grow and the deer come to drink, where stories and lives intertwine with astounding normalcy as they do everywhere, on any piece of land. These boxes are an attempt to witness, steward, share, and ambassador the voices of the wild and common place I call home and inspire greater understanding and connection and ecological conversation wherever you may reside.
In each box comes 4-6 bottles and tins of mindfully crafted plant medicines and products, a letter/story of the season, a piece of art, a booklet delving deeper into the herbs—a mix of recipes, stories, nature-based musings, and drawings as well as rich educational information to empower you in your own herbal learning and journey. Plus a few other tidbits of magic and mystery from the land. The medicines will slowly build your medicine chest over the course of the year as well as your intimacy with the plants and their potential, ranging from formulas to single extracts, beauty products to edible treasures.

A Wild & Common Place is truly a journey through space and time. Distinct from other apothecary shares, these boxes weave a story and bring you into a particular landscape as it grows and senesces throughout the year. It is, too, a deep reflection of my journey alongside and through it, with personal tales, reflections, ideas, and teachings threaded throughout. Like in everything I do in this work, this share is a conversation between all of us—me, the maker, you, the recipient, and the land, the heart of it all. Every item is made conscientiously and consciously, from plants gathered while barefoot in the creek, mushrooms stumbled upon in the woods, herbs tended carefully in the garden beds and more.

HOW IT WORKS
Much like a vegetable CSA, the A Wild & Common Place boxes are designed as a collective, purchased in advance, and then shipped out one at a time each season. Pre-ordering in this way allows me to plan and craft freely, making the most beautiful medicines en masse for the recipients of the shares. You can also choose to purchase each box one at a time as they become available, but do note that these boxes sell out quickly, and you may not be able to snag one before someone else!

WHY PURCHASE IN ADVANCE? This helps me to be prepared and have more freedom to create and concoct just for you. Much like with a CSA, you entrust me to use my expertise to craft a beautiful variety of remedies that allow you to explore and taste many different things & learn many different plant medicines. With each changing season we have different physical needs that unfold alongside the blooms and growth of the ecosystem around us. This share weaves the two together, honing in on the essential medicines of the season, and allows us to lean into the unknown and unexpected in the year ahead.
